Is it time for your business to sound BIG!

I run a successful voice over business in the UK and I am being asked more and more to supply quality voicemail messages for businesses.

The benefit of this is that often the telephone is the first point of contact with you and your business. It's vitally important to make a good impression at the earliet opportunity.

And what if you're out and miss that call and your potential customer is greated with a hastily recorded answerphone message with backgriound noise - cars, traffic, childrens etc all spoiling that special moment between you and your client!

For a very small investment, you can make your business however small sound like one of your corporate compeitors.

And of course, not everyone has a good telephone voice. So you may want to use another voice as the voice of your company for those important out of hours and weekend calls.

Be great to hear from you.

I do a great Billy Connelly if anyone is interested?

You are right of course. It is important that the first interaction your customer has with your company presents you as professionals. But nothing bugs me more than those who take it to the next level. Over the top 'performances' like you get when calling TalkTalk are just too much for me to stomach. I know my call is no more important to you than the last one...you don't know who is calling you yet! Keep it simple and polite, don't feed me recorded propaganda! I want the phone to be answered by a polite mothering type, not Joseph Goebbels.

And this is my point. Because you can make the decision between hard sell - soft sell - or no sell. But you can create for your business a corporate brand identity. You can decide how your business voicemail should sound to your potential customers.

How much business is lost out of hours or across the weekend, simply because the answerphone either wasn't switched on, or the message wasn't effectively marketig your business while you were away!

There is nothing wrong with that personal touch so long as the message is clear, explains effectively why the call can't be taken and gives your customer an opportunity to leav a message or an alternative way of contacting you. Because.. they may never try and call you back!
