Is it possible to SEO a Video ?

I'm already overcomitted to charity work so unfortunately I can't offer...

Always worth searching youtube for an answer. Have a look at these to give you some ideas...

Thank you for the links I will take a look , I was not asking for free though, people do always assume with charity work I would expect it for free , It would be an investment to get donations generated by people watching the video .

First of all I would suggest you spread the video via Facebook (I have already posted it on several locations) and in the comment ask people to share.
Currently you video title is "aiming for a cure" - i would include the term charity in there and the name of the illness - in this case "Ataxia".
The next thing is the description. Place as much information in there and and information on how to find your website.

Thank you . Millie does have a facebook page with over 4,000 'fans'. I have posted on there asking others to watch then share, it has been shared 32 times so far. I did wonder about the title and description being a missed oppurtunity for keywords. Unfortunately I do not have the authority to edit it as it is posted by Ataxia UK. I will contact them on monday and ask if we can do this with keywords . Thank you for your help .

Hi,
Here's a quick way to rank you video fast:

Step 1.
Upload a video eg. to youtube(It's Free yay!!)
Create and account at youtube or use your gmail details if you don't already have one.
Step 2: Once you have signed in and your video is uploaded you are going to give it specific keywords/phrases so that people seaching for your product/services can find it quick. (this is what search engine optimization [SEO] means) Your video is more likely to rank easier and faster locally rather than worldwide:

Title:
insert you keywords/phrases + city eg. gas plumber leicester

Description: insert your website/FB fanpage/Google maps URL etc here
Give a brief description about your video: what viewers will learn from it and/or what services/product you offer etc.

Tags: insert your keywords/phrases here specific to your industry eg. Leicester plumber, 24hr plumber leicester, plumbing services leicester (NOTE: use no more than 3 tags )

Catergory: self-explanatory I think, choose one that applies to you

Pivacy Settings: Choose Public to enable your video to rank fast on Google instead of 'Private' otherwise no one will see it.
Licence and rights ownership: I would normally choose 'Standard'

Finally click on 'Save Changes' otherwise al that work won't take effect!!

Step 3: You will create accounts at social sites like;
------------------
Reddit.com
Del.icio.us
Stumbleupon.com
Indianpad.com
Slashdot.org
Diigo.com
Wirefan.com
Bibsonomy.org
Blinklist.com
Netvouz.com
Folkd.com
Bmaccess.net
Blogmarks.net
Mister-wong.com
-----------------
Step 4: Visit:

pingler.com

Google has robots called web crawlers that go through the web and searches through thousands of websites with data for new content so this site is used to alert google of new content 'hey, am on the web now! am a new video with content come check me out I have some new content for you! this is called Pinging:D

On pingler.com:
Title: Insert your keywords/phrases (Or simply copy and paste youtube vid title)
URL: Insert your youtube video link here (NOT your website!!) because your video has that anyway you need to get eyes from the social sites onto your videos.

Category: Your Category

Ping Services: Right click to select all (this will highlight all the text in that text field-leave it highlighted!!)
Captcha Code: Enter that annoying Capture text into the field below directly below!

then cick on 'PING' this will 'ping' your video

-Thats all folks!:D

I am not an SEO specialist but I have helped clients leverage video to gain visibility on the search engines more quickly, so I can talk you through the basic steps that were taken to make this happen.

Video presents an opportunity to leapfrog quickly onto page 1 has opened up. I'm sure you've read the it's 50 times more likely for video content to appear on the front page than a standard web page. Dependent on the video competition for your selected keywords, some SEO for video should help create some visibility for your charity. .

1. Upload To Youtube - The vast majority of videos shown in the blended results on Google are from Youtube. Your video is guaranteed to be indexed if it is uploaded onto Youtube as Youtube are owned by Google. It seems that you have already done this, so that's a start.

2. Embed The Video In Your Site - This is essential, ideally surrounded by relevant text or a transcript of the video.

3. Create A Video Sitemap - Check these out at the Google Webmaster Tools site and put one on your site.

4. Choose The Right Title - This needs to match your chosen keyword(s) exactly. The video description also needs to contain the keyword(s).

5. Optimise Your Youtube Channel - If you really want to optimise for one specific keyword, put that as the title of your Youtube Channel.

6. Build Backlinks To Your Video - As with all SEO, backlinks are important in Video SEO. The more high quality links to your video, the higher the video will rank.

Optimising video will help you compete for rankings with well-established sites in a shorter space of time than you could with just written content. Obviously, the more competition, the longer it will take to rank.

Good luck. Let us know how you get on.

No help with the SEO I'm afraid but I did have a look at the Facebook page and saw Millie in her school uniform on her first day at school.

I couldn't quite make out the badge but if it's Wilnecote High School my lad is in year 8 there

You could investigate rich snippets.

d
Thank you , once again this is something I will have to discuss with Ataxia UK on monday. I did research SEO when I built Millie's website and know the importance of keywords and snippets, learning the actual content is one of the most important things too, that is done. The video now has over 500 views it was only uploaded friday tea time and I thank anybody who has watched or shared it from this forum. Monday I will get it listed, sort out the title description and snippets. Thank you all for your help. :)

Couple of tips for you:

1) The video is set to 'unlisted' - this means that only people with the link will be able to view the video, it won't come up on any search listings. You'll need to change this to 'Public' in Info & Settings.

2) There isn't much description in the Description Box - this really helps with YouTube SEO, I would put as much information in here about the charity, video plus any links out to the charity website where people can find more information.

3) Tags - YouTube have recently removed 'tags' from public view, but these are still incredibly important behind the scenes. Make sure you have a good number of tags (10-20) that are relevant to the video, e.g. charity name, video name, disease name etc.

4) Title - as has been mentioned, make sure the title is as inviting as possible

Good luck!!

Social media does play a large part . The video has 1097 plays in just a few days. It has been shared from Millie's facebook page 101 times . Is there any need for google anymore ? If facebook ever get a search engine is it curtains for google ? I personally do not like facebook or other social networks and worry how the next generation will communicate in real time . I do use it as an engine to raise awareness of Ataxia, It has certainly raised the profile of this video.
