Is it okay to have online press releases distributed?

No it will not, but you need to make sure you don't ONLY build links in this way, because even if it is in innocence, then they could decide the links are unnatural.

So try to do this, plus some other forms of link building, even somethign as low key as forum posting will help to water down the 'all links from same source' issues that goole has.

Ah you are talking about automatic press releasing. that isn't so good. We use press releases and today posted to 60 sites, the anchor text varied massively, no anchor was used more than 5 times, other than the company url wheci was raw in each case (as it should be).

Your question should have been is automated online press releasing OK. Again this isn't black and white, but if you have say 200 backlinks, and you just sent out 100 press releases with identical anchor text, then you are on a tightrope..

As long as they have been written by humans, have perfect spelling and grammar, and are newsworthy, they should and will be read.

Bottom line: if you think a press release is genuinely a good and timely idea, it probably is.

If you're just doing it to gain links etc. it really isn't a good idea.

Hi

Please can you give information on how to do PR manually? So lets say I write a PR then what 60 sites or list of sites do I post to?

You can PM me if you want too....

Thx

You just said you post to 100 sites? I am confused. why do you need a list of sites if you already have a list of sites that you post to automatically?

I think there is some confusion here.

Manual or automated? Anyone clear?

if you are posting identical material, then it makes absolutely no difference if the posts are made manually or automatically.

the point of manual posting is so ensure they are maximised and done 100% correctly for best results.

I agree and appreciate that, but the question was with regard the effect on Google. If the site has no link profile, and then gains 300 links all with the same anchor text, then it could well raise a flag. The problem isn't so much with the genuine press release sites, it is more with the RSS feed aggregators that post to wordpress etc.

there is nothing wrong with using press relase sites, nothing at all. but that wasn't the question
