Is it legal to resell branded products on ebay?

About 5 weeks ago I started selling cosmetics on ebay to make a little more money for myself as i am a student with low income, the products i sold were new in box & 100% genuine (the official website of the brand listed the website i ordered from as one of their legit stockists).

After 2 weeks of ordering, anything i would order from this site would not arrive, so after 5 orders i contacted customer service and told them i had not received any of my recent orders even though money was took out of my account. I heard nothing back for two weeks so i ended up opening a few cases on paypal and they did not respond so i automatically got my money back.

However, today i received an email from the website saying i was flagged a week ago due to the large amounts of product i was ordering and that i am forbidden to purchase anything from their site again (fair enough) but the thing that has me worried is that they said they reported me to ebay and the brand itself and they may choose to take further action. What actions can ebay and the brand actually take against me?

I barely made £300 profit in total and i gave 100% accurate descriptions of the product. I have heard nothing from ebay and the brand so far but i only received the email one day ago, did i break any laws?

eBay does have brand protection but only to ensure products are authentic. In this case you are fine as you got the products from official suppliers and can prove it.

The issue here is that the company probably has rules around where stuff can get listed and this is why you are not being supplied.

As an aside eBay could but probably won't flag you as a business seller and then you have to comply with regulations like distance selling. This depends on whether you are registered as a business or not on eBay already. In my experience they hardly ever pick up private sellers operating as a business.
