Hi My name is Jon-Paul and I work as a Business energy and water cost saving consultant. This is my first post but rather an important one.

Since working in this line of business its became very evident that businesses are not aware of the water deregulation.
This could be a great opportunity for businesses. Already in Scotland the water market has became deregulated and companies are shaving thousands of pounds off their water costs.

This is because for the first time they can choose whom provides their water instead of this being monopolised by one provider. Even in Scotland some businesses are unaware of this as it has not been highly advertised of yet. In England and Wales the water deregulation for the business market is due to hit us in April 2017. Businesses can start shopping around in the last quarter of this year to make sure their water rates are with the best provider that suits their business ready for the deregulation in April 2017.

Hope this information has been helpful if any business would like any advice on water or energy please don't hesitate to give me a shout.

Thanks

Jon-Paul

Does this apply to Wales? For those that dont know, Welsh Water is a non-profit organisation and its structure legalities are different from the rest of the Water companies. I also believe it comes under the Welsh Governments rule and not the UKs, so things maybe different on that front as well

Not in Wales, business users only.

FWIW, you're still going to be getting the same water through the same pipes. It's not like electricity, where there's a national grid and you can deal with any supplier.

Actually it's exactly the same as electricity, and gas. It makes no difference who you buy from what comes into your property doesn't change one iota. Not that it'll bother us as we don't have a water/sewage supplier.

Yes but my point was with electricity you have a choice of providers that feed in to a common carrier. That's not the way water works.

All the dealers can do is bulk buy from a supplier and sell to you at a discount, if they can make a saving in doing so. Presumably they can't do it for the domestic market as so many users aren't metered.
