Is anyone tied into a Siemens Lease Agreement.......

Because of an unscrupulous agent?

The agents that took us for a bunch of numpties were a Company called Xtel Communications Ltd but i've heard similar stories that a lot of companies are doing this.

Basically, the agent lies about the worth of the equipment and makes untold promises to get you to sign the agreement & the next minute you are locked into a 'water-tight' lease (in our case it is for a telephone system) for five or six years.

I have recently had my equipment valued and it turns out that i could have bought the bloody thing outright for the price of four of my monthly finance payments! (oh well, only another 68 payments to go ).

Twelves months down the line (& a colossal amount of correspondence)Siemens are aware that the agent lied about many things, including the value of the equipment, but they don't care that the contract was mis-sold and you can't prove it anyway because it's your word against thiers.

I'm currently at the point where I am going to have to cancel my contract & direct debit, no doubt they will take be to court, so i was wondering if there was anyone else out there that has the same problem?

There's a few of us on the Xtel thread http://www.ukbusinessforums.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=114584
but we seem to be at a dead end now.

Any advice would be appreciated please :)

YES ME I AM!!

And I'm with you all the way, maybe it's better to take our chances in court, My settlement fee is £4095.95 excluding vat.....

I stopped my direct debit in september of last year and sent the equipment back to Xtel.... In fact their engineer who fitted the wystem came and removed it for me, nice chap he was...

So like you I'll stand for anyone whos's in the same position as I am and it seems me that we are in the majority by tousands here.

So Whats you r next move? Thanks to everyone who's mentioned the FLA as thats where I'm going now.

Good Luck all !!

Interesting reading, I thought it was just us with this issue. I have a contact which successfully got our company out of the lease with these guys, if you contact me directly I will forward their details across to you. The operate on a no win no fee basis and so far have sorted the Xtel lease and a couple of photocopier leases as well

Any help would be appreciated. Do you know if any case has actually been to court and a decision reached?

Hi there

We haven't gone to court yet, i'm using a Company called The Leasing Advisory Service.

Originally, I just wanted Siemens to let me out of my unfair lease but this Company seems to think we can get all our previous payments back & it's a 'no win no fee' arrangement, so I thought 'what the hell, i'll give it a go'.

It looks like there are a few Companies out there now that can help with these unfair leases which is great.

I'll let you know how things go.

We have been quoted by this company in their brochure as being a client whom they have managed to get us £8000 back from our photocopier supplier.

THIS IS A TOTAL LIE - WE DID NOT USE THEM AND HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THEM.

WE HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE ADVERTISING STANDARDS AGENCY ABOUT THEM

I would suggest that you also report them to the FLA

I must say, for a company checking documentation, they don't seem to be aware of Business Names legislation.

Someone else on this site has had their blog quote placed on the Leasing Advisory Service website without her approval.

Maybe a common theme with this outfit.

Thought I should warn people that Lily Comms have taken over Xtel.

They phoned to set up a meeting with their sales rep. Because of past experience, and having discovered that several former Xtel directors are now directors at Lily Comms - I turned down the opportunity.
