I have just started my own business and Im wanting to use a basic free invoicing package, any ideas or recommendations?

I also would like to know how I would issue them, im going to be visiting peoples homes and fixing their computers, and obviously want a copy for my records and one for them.

Do I buy a portable printer and print them off there? Could I have some ideas please:|

For home users you really just want a way of giving a receipt. You'll make life easiest by simply using a tear-off receipt book!

Seriously, it's not a bad way to do it and all you have to do at the end of the month is add them all together and account for it in one lump. It has the advantage of being very cheap, easy to understand, not require lugging around lots of gear, and the books can be bought cheaply at any stationer.

You could also consider a portable credit card reader.

Thanks, I have thought of the receipt book, but as its a computer business, I felt It wouldnt look very modern using one of these. Altho until something better comes along, thats what I might have to do. Is there no other way of doing this in a high tech fashion? I will be lugging a lot of gear round with me neways so I wouldnt mind that element of it.

After you have fixed the computer, do the invoice on your laptop, make a PDF of it, pop it on their computer (USB stick, wireless, network etc.) and print on their printer. You could then either delete the PDF or leave it on their PC.

If they don't have a printer, just leave the PDF and say you are saving trees.

Of course if you don't fix the computer, you'll just have to write a receipt on the back of a fag packet. :)

Mind you, Interconnect IT's suggestion is much less faff.

Hi

The way I do it, is I have a receipt book for customers that don't have an email address.
For ones that do I have an application on my mobile which basically allows be to enter the details and it send an invoice via email to the client. It also adds the job straight into my database allowing me to keep track of things easily.

Obviously this required a smart phone (or something similar) and mobile internet; but saves on printing and means I don't need to carry much around.

I hope this helps.

Many Thanks

Leo
