Hi guys, good afternoon

I recently opened a Ltd company which would have dealt with photography equipment hire but my main trade was in construction previous to this. Typically as soon as i had no work in the construction industry and wanted to move onto something else i was approached by an old customer who wants to me give me a £100k project.

My question - does it matter that i have registered the ltd business for photography equipment hire but i will be invoicing for building works? Should it matter at all because i'll be paying the same taxes what ever kind of work comes in?

Many thanks.

From what I gather, you'll need to change your SIC code with companies house when you complete your confirmation statement. When and if you provided an SIC code to companies house, it was for planned activities. So if you're planned activities change, it shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for your prompt reply, i am thinking this work will be a one-off then i can continue thinking about working on the category of the business - i dont presume it's an offence by not changing the SIC code for one small difference in work?
