Hi All,

Trying to find a solution for a friend of mine.

He has stock stored over several remote locations.

What he needs is to have a hand held scanner or two that he can scan stock in on when it's unloaded from the 40' containers and allocate it to one of the locations.

Then when he gets orders from customers, a pick list is generated telling him where the items are located and also how much stock he has left of that item.

He then scans the items when picked and when the customer collects or he delivers them an invoice is automatically generated.

Any ideas on a cost effective solution?

Hiya, Do they use anything currently for this? If so, which system is it?
SOunds like hes looking for an ERP system, which would do all of this for him.
Has a budget been established for the project?

At the moment they don't use an electronic system at all.

No budget has been set.

What information have you gathered from the internet. There must be systems available. It may help if you let others know what you have already found and then ask a specific question about a specific product or system.

What suits one business may not be suitable for your friends business. Just out of curiosity, why isnt your friend trying to resolve the issues, its his business after all said and done.

Wasp Technology offer inventry control amongst other things. I use them for their retail EPOS system, and it all seems quite straightforward and cheap enough. Tech support could be difficult to get hold of, but once they were on the phone, they were very helpful.

If you think laptop/tablet with 3G and with scanner and the database on line then I am sure there are going to be a lot of options out there that turn up
