Interchangeable Keywords?

Does Google treat some words interchangeably?

For example Gown=Dress?

1st=First?

If so, is there a list anywhere of what they are?

And singular v plural - does it treat them the same or differently?

The reason I ask is because one site comes top for a particular product when you google the relevant keyword yet they do not use that keyword in the title or anywhere on the page - but use a synonym of that keyword.

    Google is still updating its search according to users intent as well as how the search engine understand the query. Some scenario Google provides the content and not contain the keyword but offers the information in which answers the users.

    Google is generally good at dealing with synoyms, knowing that workds like jobs and recruitment are similar, although possibly not the same thing. It doesn't always get it right though, which can be frustrating.

    And yes, it can treat singular and plural different dependent on the structure and the perceived intent behind the search query.

    As per the most of experts says and also i agree with the @StevePoster that Google is still updating its search according to users intent as well as how the search engine understand the query.

    The Google 'Rankbrain' algorithm is all about that. check montfort . io / google-rank-brain-what-is-it-and-how-will-it-affect-seo/
