Hi All,

I have been investigating the possibility of integrating a shopping cart into my existing website to replace the PayPal buttons that we currently have there due to PayPal not providing a function to include discount voucher codes.

We do not require a complete e-commerce website as we only have 2 products to sell.

My options at the moment point to using one of PayPal's partners as a Shopping Cart that provides the crucial voucher code function but none of the ones I have seen look of the quality we are after.

So can you please either suggest a quality shopping cart that can be integrated into our existing website, using PayPal as the gateway, or offer your services to build us something bespoke?

Thanks.

Hi there,

We would be interested in working on a proposal for you?
What is your website's url?
Which CMS is your website built with?
Can you describe a little bit more your requirements as far as voucher codes are concerned?

Best regards,
Anthony

What system is your current website on?
I have no idea! :|
The web guy often says it has been built using Ajax but that might not be the answer you are looking for?

1) www.ukpearl.com
2) No idea but if you can tell from looking at the site then please educate me!
3) We have 2 versions of the same product - a discount card. One is for couples and the other for families. We are looking for the prices to be calculated as per what it states on the website but if someone enters a voucher code, the price will adjust to the promotional price that they have been offered. We will have a couple of hundred unique voucher codes that need to be recognised by the system but they will all result in the same promotional price being applied.

Cheers,

Robert

Hi Robert,

I would suggest Prestashop which is an open source, free to use ecommerce platform.

PM me if you would like free advice on this or access to Prestashop demos.

Cheers,

Tim

Wow lots of answers here recommending various shops! If you have just 2 products and that's not going to change in future, just add a couple of PayPal buttons and be done with it.

Is there any reason your'e not going to use your current web guy again to do this?

    Hi,

there are lots thins like "External Shopping cart" solutions for cases like yours.
"External Shopping cart" allows your clients to place orders (incl processing online payments) and manage orders.
Yes, this is what I'm looking for but I need a good one.

I think the Open Source route will get me the best solution but at the moment I don't have the funds required to pay a developer to create it for me.
Someone on here already quoted me around £2k, when all I need is a couple of buttons!
We build plenty of Magento sites, but as you have stated you only have two products, may be worth while just using Wordpress with something like WP Ecommerce plugin.
This is also something that has been suggested to me by our existing webteam and is a strong possibility as soon as we have some available funds.

I specifically need a cart that has the ability to apply voucher codes, and many of them (around 2,000 unique codes). PayPal does not have the ability to apply voucher codes (quite ridiculous really!) as otherwise it would be perfect.

Regarding our current webteam, we are currently having a few problems with them and were looking at alternatives.
We are going to have a sit down with them to find a way forward.

Sounds like you just need a bit of code around your PayPal buttons with a form to enter the voucher code which will then reduce the price.

Do the voucher codes have expiry dates?
Will you need to administer them through an interface to turn them on or off and add new ones?

If so you will need some custom development which isn't massively complex but it's not a 2 hour job either.

I've found a temporary solution with Shop Integrator, who I found on this forum.
It's not perfect and I am having trouble wrapping the text around it in the HTML source editor (I am a complete HTML novice) so it doesn't look wonderful on the page, but it has the functionality I'm after.

It has replaced my original PayPal button with one that I have applied our website colour scheme to and it brings up a simple shopping cart (also branded with our colours) where you can enter the voucher codes.
The price automatically recalculates before going through to PayPal to complete the transaction.

I am currently using their free trial and then the cost is very low going forward.

If I can make it look better it might even be a permanent solution.
