Infographics - Annoying or not?

Am I the only one who finds infographics annoying to read?

When I am looking up some information and a website shows up a load of infographics I immediately leave and go and find the information I want in a more traditional form - called text.

It's not that I'm against pictures with captions, but so often infographics just seem to be random images with text all over the place.

To give an example, here is a Management of Health and Safety in the Workplace" infographic:

Mostly annoying.
Occasionally it's an appropriate way of displaying information, but it just reminds me of the dumbed down teaching techniques that were super trendy when I was in school.

My first thought looking at Ashley's example was that it seems too busy.

It reminds me of business people exercising their creative side - the things we did at uni.

When I worked in digital marketing, my colleagues loved infographics. I hated them. They make good posters, but are rubbish for screen and are general bad UX. That being said, social media types love them.

when infographics were first introduced most had very compelling bits of info and were used correctly. Now some idiot marketers have conviced their clients that infographics are the new thing and just try to make infographics for the sake of infogrpahics.

A lot of the content would be better off left as text than turning into graphics.

Infographics gained popularity when social media emerged. These days viwers prefer information in a more attractive, simple to read form and its result is infographic. And yes I agree its annoying many of the times.
