Can anyone tell me where about In Edinburgh, Glasgow or Central Scotland there are indoor or outdoor markets that are really busy. I am looking for a place to advertise my wedding photography business so need to find somewhere that is really busy with lots of people.

thanks

I would have said Blochairn Market but if you want punters with cash that's the last place you'd want to be seen.

Try a website first, then look for a place/stand at community events, gardening shows, flower shows, racing nights down at ayr etc... the kind of places people with money go.

Send portfolios to wedding venues and wedding dress retail and designers.

Also contact wedding bands by finding them on google, make sure they know who you are.

Edinburgh Markets might be of interest. There is also the Funk Fair which is vintage focused but busy.

I agree with Dan about the benefits of linking up with other wedding oriented professionals. I know of some successful photographer/make up artist/ stylist combos specialising in vintage themed weddings and I'm sure there must be other niche nuptial markets worth exploring.

Good luck.

Would it not be best to target specifically people who are about to get married.

There are lots of Wedding fairs at many hotels and centres all year round. A simple google search would bring them up for you.

There is an indoor market in Falkirk at the old skating rink. There was a photographer who did kiddie pictures and advertised for other events at the same time. But I think that was about a year ago. The market is open 4 days per week but footfall can be variable. There is also a bakers who does a variety of cakes to order including wedding cakes so perhaps you could both help each other out .

Check out facebook under Falkirk Indoor Market

I wouldn't recommend the Omni centre car boot (indoor car boot, on Sundays) to advertise this kind of business. it's like Blochairn - I don't think the punters are in the market for wedding photos.

Imho, you would be better off taking a stand at the various wedding fayres. These are a few of the ones coming up for Edinburgh:

Sunday 26th August 2012: 11.30am - 3.30pm, Wedding Fair, Ghillie Dhu, Rutland Place, Edinburgh. Email your name and the word GHILLIE to [email protected] You will automatically be put on the guest list for 4 FREE Entry Tickets and given a goody bag on arrival. Tickets £3 on the door

Sat 29th - Sun 30th September: 10am - 5.00pm, Dream Wedding Scotland with Fashion show, Assembly Rooms, George Street Edinburgh (Tel 01592 647723)

Sunday 11th November 2012: 12noon - 4.00pm, Wedding Fayre, Best Western Braid Hills Hotel, 134 Braid Road, Edinburgh EH10 6JD, Free admission & parking. Wine/soft drinks/canapes. Special Promotional Package for 2013 and 2014 Weddings. (For Details Tel. 0131 447 8888 or e-mail [email protected] )
If you are not sure about investing in a stand, how about going to a few first, and having a look at the stands already taken by rival photographers?
