I apologise for the face remark. Looking again I can see what I thought was a babygrow hood is the face. That was however the first impression that I got.

The 2nd is that the baby looks aboslutely bloody gruesome and I think many mothers would be offended to recieve that card.

That is my opinion anyway but I have no wish to offend Kelly so I with withdraw from this conversation and she is ingnoring good advice anyway so any more would just be wasted.

WHat an entertaining thread. Kelly - do you have a card for "Congratulations on your ignorance of car branding" ?

I'll send one to the poster who said "Aston Martin Cabriolet" when *everyone* knows that the name given to an AM convertible is "Volante". I think he also spelt Porsche wrong.

Anyhow - that post was jokey before anyone gets the arse with me. I'm tired and fed up.

Nice one Limessi but I might point out that not everyone knows the model name - just that it is a covertable and as far as the misspell on Dr. FP goes. The spell check on here is American so what more can you expect if the occasional error slips through and I don't claim o have perfect eyesiight anyway.

I am however a time served business guru like it or not:rolleyes:

You guys are unreal.

Fair enough she gets the message that her cards need a little bit more razzmatazz but this trolling about it being a black baby is completely pathetic and not really funny at all to be honest.

Grow up for god's sake. This thread has just got personal and is actually now turned quite mean.

@ Oldeageleye - Business Guru & Mentor? Y'reckon? More like a sad old fart with nothing better to do than make wise assed comments. Sheesh, glad you laugh at your own jokes because it's embarrassing.

This thread has got to win June 2010's "most derailed" award.....

Eagle mate, you screwed the pooch there fella :) At least you had the cahoneys to apologise but man I nearly wet myself looking at the baby face!

To the OP, taking aside the *coughs* mistake made, you've had some good advice overall here. If you sort the wheat from the chaff you won't do too badly.

Good luck with it.

Go wash you mouth out EH . That remark was uncalled for and if you learned to be a bit more articulate you would understand why.

Pereception - ie fist impression has nothing to do with a lack of knowledge and my first impression was that of a goliwog and then the big mouth in a babygrow.

What ever. I thought the face was ugly and not at all humerous as what was I assume the intention.

That I apologised for the remarks then was because I regard myself as a gentleman . Something you certianly are not and I warn you here an now EH

Any more inaccurate and insulting remarks from you and I will report you to the mods.

Some small pointers (if I'm looking at the right website). When you go to the site you have to scroll down to see the products. Try getting more thumbnail sized images up near the top of the page so your visitors are immediately looking at the products rather than having to read information first.

Also, they don't look particularly well photographed, the colours look a bit dull. Try scanning them instead? Maybe have a look at some of the mainstream card manufacturer websites to see how they promote their ranges online.

good luck!

MICHELLE. From the look of your highly polished web site and indeed your photo icon alongsiide your membership name you would seem to be a professional and successful young woman and no doubt independant woman too.

Now if your were out there in the marketplace selling bent snooker or pool cues with no tips that you had carved out of the odd windfall branchs and no-one wanted to buy and you came on here asking for advice on how to get more sales - would you want everyone to pat you on the back or head and say

"Well done girlie and you made them yourself too. Why that's wonderful"

Come on now. You would no doubt appreciate honest and constructive advice - not condescending or patronising praise as offered by some on this thread and that is what I did. Give honest and unbiased advice - and I might add that by sheer coincidence after I had just carried out some in depth research into the greetings card industry on behalf of a fellow member on here.

As well as having 40 years experience in a wide range of industries then I had bang up to date relevant information to base my advice on - and that is what it was advice - combined with an explanation as to why I came to that view.

I did not insult Kelly personally then. I questioned the poor quality of presentation on her web site and that particular range of greetings cards. In fact far from insulting the young woman I tried to offer her encouragement by advising her to sit down and design a new range and saying that she would probably amaze herself how far her graphic skills go if she pushed herself that little bit further.

I and several other members also suggested that if she took that advice on board and produced truly authentic personalised cards rather than blanks with little more than basic logos on them she could increase her sales and margins substantially and turn what is little more than a paying hobby into a profitable business. Either that or gain a reputation as an 'artist'.

Now I think if you read all that in context my posts should have been read as being extremely helpful and constructive.

The post made by EH however contributed nothing to this thread. It was just the sort of insulting post made by a keyboard warrior - and even then an inarticulate one. My knowledge of the subject was obvious yet he or she called my ingnorant. Quite the opposite and a poor choice of word by any educational standard.

In any event that person calling themselves EH knows that they would never have the nerve to insult me to my face anyway. I would wipe the floor with them and they would get the proverbial boot up where the sun does shine out the door. Unless it was a woman of course. I don't believe there is any excuse ever hitting a woman.

Then again putting one over ones knee and given them a well deserved spanking is another thing and happens in all the ladies boarding schools in the Cantons.

Now I suggest we all drop the slanging match - don't you.

Thank you for your comments on my website OEE but if you have a look back through your comments they we're not very constructive at all (apart from the point where she needs to up her game)

OP knows she needs to up her game to compete with the handmade card market online but to go on and on about what the baby in the card looks like is not constructive. It was a bit overkill don't you think? She gets the picture but to batter her with the point is unfair and unprofessional.

I love how people on here say something really unprofessional and try to then defend themselves saying "Oh, I was trying to be constructive!" "OP must have misunderstood!" - it's always the easy way out as online things can be misinterpreted but not as much as people say they are in this forum.

There is no slagging match going on here, I am simply pointing out that the tirade of unhelpful and spiteful comments about her cards was a little overkill. Say it once by all means but to engage in some sort of banter slagging the poor woman's cards off is not constructive whatsoever!

There is no slagging of any sort going on here from my end.... "You must have misunderstood!!!!" ;) lol

Instead of actually analyzing the design of the card and coming up with something constructive, you saw something black and shouted racism - personally i call that ignorant.

No-one else thought of a golliwog when seeing that card. To be honest i think this is a pointless argument anyway, because i too find those cards hideous and poorly designed.

Why does this always come up on the internet? You don't know me, we are never going to get into a fight - yet you say you would wipe the floor with me (which im not even going to go into) is this like a - make yourself feel tough thing? Quite frankly, in person i would probably be more insulting.

Please, let's not start chucking the race card around. It really serves no purpose.

Hi Kelly, you did not say whether you were selling in the u.k. only or netwide, because i recently found a traffic source which is very good and cheap.

Best of all if you're no satisfied with results, they continue until you're happy without further cost.

I hope this helps!

LesterW:)
