Hi,

I am in talks with a few companies on Alibaba about importing a small industrial nut butter machine. Therefore, My question is, Has anyone imported any machinery from China into the UK? as I am not sure what the Procedures are. I will also need an agent to visit the factory and actually use the machine to see it actually works.

My alternative would be to rent kitchen time somewhere in London but so far I have had no luck locating a rental kitchen that has the machinery I need.

Are there any government regulations that I need to follow?

I've shipped some big saw cutting machines to Mid East, not UK, but basic procedures should be the same. Consult an UK based forwarder to check for detailed operation procedures.

Just to remind, it's really important to have a trustworthy agent to visit factory, better before you place order, and before shipment. If any problems happen in UK so you cannot use the machine well, it's a disaster, as it's (almost) impossible to find someone to repair it in UK.

Agree with Maple sourcing. Ask some UK forwarding agent and they will tell you what you need. But a more inportant thing is getting the factory inspected and verified by a reliable agent before placing orders. Not all Chinese companies are as good as they seems to be.

Thank you all for your insights. Much appreciated. I am going to see to if the supplier will let an agent inspect theri facility and let him actually ues the machine to make some nut butter before Placing an order. I might need some quotes from agents registered on the forum.
