Importing leather goods from Guangzhou, China

Hello,

In November I'm looking to launch my own leather goods business and I'm currently looking at goods manufactures in Guangzhou for fulfilment. I have found a few who are accredited with working with popular international brands and one who I’ve already done business with. I would like to know if a sourcing agent would be essential in my aid or can I do a deep report check on each company followed by a visit for when I go to China in the coming months.

Hello Daniel,

It's better to pay a visit to those factories when you're in Guangzhou. Sourcing agents are not essential if you go to China next month. Of course, if you don't want to visit the factories one by one, it's better to employ an agent or inspector to audit the factory on behalf of you.

If you're worried about the quality, you can ask a third party inspector to inspect before shipment.

My route was to do a background search using the China Check-up website, get my sample made from each company to determine quality and delve deeper into each factory to see if they can provide fulfilment and to cater if my needs change 6 months down the line and then whittle it down to 1 or 2 factories to visit
