    hello

Just wondering if this is doable. I have always ordered small light and high value items (relative to weight) so far. Everythig gets sent via air to my home address.

I would like to broaden my horizens a bit and import larger items. They might be sent my surface in a pallet so I am just trying to work out the logistics of gfoing about ordering a pallet from China. Is it possible to collect the shipment from the freight companies location? Go in there with a van and collect the items myself. Or have them delivered to my home address and loaded up in the van?

Are there any likely problems to occur and possibly hiccups where I will be required to have a permamnet commercial unit to take delivery?

I am probably overthinking this, and it would just be a matter of taking delivery to my home address and loading it up into the van and then taking to self storage myself.

I am just a bit worried about using self storage address as the delivery address because I have seen some couriers just unload pallets at the self storage site, get a nod from someone at reception and just walk away.

Thanks in advance. Look forward to hearing other peopels experiences.

    Hi,

As others have said, it's never an issue with delivery for a home or self storage, most hauliers would just ask for a site contact number, and make clear the terms of the delivery, EG "To kerb", meaning you would be responsible for all unloading and removal of packaging, etc.

I would also recommend you being aware of unloading, EG, if you are needing to lift the pallet out of the van at your house/self storage, and having suitable facilities, or, as otherwise it may be worth requesting a tail lift vehicle for the delivery.
