Hi,

Looking for some new business help please, i want to import a LED light up bangle, or similar small electrical battery operated worn item. It seems that through Alibaba.com, these are cheap and easily made to specifics. If im buying these from China, are there are regulations i.e health and safety requirements in Europe that China may not follow that i should know about before buying these and selling within my company?

Hi Sarah,

Alibaba is not among the sites I recommend for sourcing, but at least they have given you some idea of what is possible.

I could shortcut your search for you by directing you to a couple of manufacturers who have ex-stock products such as you want, but they will make bespoke products if you prefer. The companies I am referring to are genuine manufacturers, and will supply small quantities.

I know that they are completely reliable and good to deal with. Once you look at their catalogs you will be amazed at the huge range of products that you can buy direct from them. I know they are manufacturers, having visited their factories as far back as 1988.

Let me know if you want to check them out.

Regarding health and safety requirements, there will be none affecting bangles unless you are selling them for wearing by young children.

as far as i know that there CE test,and ROSH test is a must . if you are aim at a high-end- Market, maybe a BS will help you

I repeat that for the type of product you want to obtain Sarah, you will not need any certification.

My franchisees in the importing business that I ran for 22 years frequently imported and sold similar products and they still do so.

Yes there are many sites like Alibaba, but I suggest you take care. Just because a sourcing site is mentioned on a forum, that is no guarantee that it is safe to use.

The site owners may be completely reputable, but some of the suppliers listed on many sourcing sites are not.

I only recommend a very few sites that I know to be completely safe.

I know of cases in which people have lost substantial sums either because they have paid and goods have not been delivered, or in one notable case, one person decided to buy my book after having ordered and paid for goods, only to find that the cost of freight far exceeded the value of the goods. Such unfortunate stories are well known to regular readers of various forums.

I teach safe sourcing and will not recommend sourcing web portals online because there is a lot more to sourcing and importing than simply going to a sourcing site and finding a supplier that has the type of product you are after.
