Importing from China and Product Liability Insurance

I'm having quite a time getting my business insured for product liability. Every insurance company I speak to, the moment I mention I import products (car tools and accessories some of which are electronic, low voltage) from China, they just don't want to know. Anyone here importing products from China who managed to get insured? If so, would you be so kind as to provide the insurer's name?

Many thanks in advance.

It's not the importing of products from China that's the issue, it's the vehicle and parts industry. They don't want to touch it with a barge pole of recent years especially if there's any "safety critical parts". Try Devitt Insurance, they insure for motorcycle parts so imagine they might do car parts as well.

as @LPB 123 says, its not the importing from China, its the products you are selling. You need a specialist motor trade insurance company/provider.

Are any of your products safety critical? - If so, insurers will need to know that you have quality control and testing in place (You will need to show that these are your own independent tests and not those of the manufacturer/supplier) - @MOIC may be able to help with advise on this.

If you do not do any of your own quality control and testing, it may be difficult to get insurance cover.

Most insurance companies over the past 5 years will offer product liability insurance if they can have recourse against the China manufacturer.

There must be some insurance companies that will offer product liability on the basis that all goods are checked and certified in the UK by an authorised testing house.

    It will be very expensive.

Recourse for any reason is not easy to accomplish in China. I have a Chinese lawyer friend who advises against litigation. He says that he achieves results by bluffing.

I know this is an old post but did you ever have any luck as I am in the same situation and finding it impossible to get quotes. I am already in the car trade and even my trade insurance Brooker is having trouble? Thank you
