Importing food

Anyone here importing foodstuff? How viable option would that be?

First it depends where you are importing and what kind of food you consider to import.

Food with bigger warranty term, like fruits and vegetables can be imported from places with farther destinations. But already prepared food, its risky.

I would say that even importing fruits can be risky.
Few years ago, i have had a friend importing a ship of oranges..and when the oranges got into the port, the all orange shipment was rotten.

So be careful, and try to take some kind of assurance before doing the import.

I am in the fine food business, and I only import from the EU. There are absolutely no issues but for labeling.
In any case, please contact your local health manager. He/She will be very helpful.

Hi,

As Excellent Foods has mentioned importing from Europe is a lot easier as anything from outside the EU may be subject to checks, sampling and charges from Port Health. If you are importing from outside the EU then please make contacting Port Health the first option and talk through every product you are considering.
