Never mind the markings what about the CE testing? You cannot rely on Chinese certificates unless they are from a very reputable source. And yes, there are there are a lot of regulations you need to conform with.

As importer, you have the same liabilities as if you were the manufacturer. The risk is entirely with you.

I would not touch any electrical items from China unless I was a true expert at doing so. It is the most risky product type to get involved with.

Have you done any research of your own other than CE marking?

    Here is a starting point:-

Many people cannot even tell the difference between CE marking and CE markings - as in the one that's vital and shows equipment has been tested to European Safety Standards, and the other one, that denotes China Export - which of course means nothing at all. Depending on what the equipment is there are other standards it must comply with. I import quite a bit and often avoid mains operated equipment because sometimes electrical safety is dreadful. The factory will stamp anything on the equipment - "Dear Mr Paul, we can supply with CE marking if you wish, or any other marking - please tell us". If you say you want CE marking, you'll get it. If you want CE testing through a proper proof house, then it's expensive and long winded, and even when you do it, the minute the ink is dry, they'll change the internal spec back to the cheap version, but carry on the labelling.

Normally CE mark is a must, and you may be required to have other certificates, too, depending on specific products. For example, e-bike may require EEC certificate and COC (certificate of conformity), etc... For some products, you couldn't find out the whole conditions online. The best way is to ask the local customs, or a shipping agency who serve you about customs clearance.

But to remind that some suppliers may present you CE reports but they are FAKE! Pls verify it, if you do not know how to verify, we may be of help.

Pls do not take for granted that CE means high quality, it does not always. CE is just a basic requirement, and it's based on testing for a sample only, you still need to make sure mass products are same as the sample. Ask someone to do quality check if you have some budget.
