Importing Cosmetic/skincare products from Asia

Hello everyone,

I've just recently joined this field, and I could use some help to clarify a few things.

Cosmetics and skincare products that apply to people are quite sensitive products as it applies onto people, and the EU had issued specific guidance regulating the details of these products.

Thus, what do I need to prepare (or ask the Asian suppliers to prepare) and to whom should I make the necessary register, prior to successfully import such product from Asia and distribute it in the UK?

I have a hard time nailing down the specifics, and I would appreciate any help you may render.

Well i would have the same question as you did. i am just about start up my cosmetic shop, and i really would need some useful info!

I would import cosmetics from China and Amerika. can you tel me what kind of documents i need to have before put them to the market, and get them into the country.!

You will need to make sure that all the suppliers you will be dealing with can supply you with any of the certifications required to enter UK customs.

As you said, there is specific guidance related to cosmetics and especially skincare.

Most good suppliers will be able to provide you with this documentation, all be it that they will be slightly more expensive then the ones that cannot.

Be very careful when dealing with products like these as many Chinese will claim that all documentation is in place while in reality they haven't made all the necessary tests.

Do not believe everything manufacturers in China tell you. It has to be verified.

I buy hign end cosmetics from abroad and have them shipped to Uk (i dont buy from china) i have never had any problems getting them in or out of the uk through customs. If any of you guys are seeking high end cosmetic suppliers (genuine ones) i may be able to help you. 100& authentic

Go into the UK Craft Forum, there are people there who do handmade soaps and cosmetics etc. and they always say that you need to have things verified by a chemist. Ask the forum and they should be able to assist.

I would advise that you be cautious with Chinese certification as many suppliers know people in high places so are able to buy them. If you could visiting the supplier can really help or using an external agent to check the credentials of a few suppliers you may be interested in.
