Importing animal sourced products from Iceland

Bit of a weird question, but we have been stung in the past with shipping fish oils from America.

Its my understanding that any animal sourced product (fish oil/ whey protein etc) can't be imported from outside the EU without a massive amount of documentation. I know this is true for buying these kind of products from America, is it the same for buying these products from Iceland?

There is an article on the Guardian, Google for "Iceland drops EU membership bid". It suggests to me that it isn't in EU, so I guess you'll still needs a 'massive amount' of documentation.
