as im vat registered can i claim this vat back ?

Yes, you will have to pay import tax and VAT (sometimes a shipment will slip through without charges).

If you are VAT registered you can claim back the VAT.

I think you can go to some import broker .

Import tax is only payable if you import from outside the EU, we import cement based products in 20,000+kg 20ft containers. We find the best way is to have a 'to the door' delivery.
There are only the usual port charges and VAT on the goods, the HM customs will send you a certificate of payment and it is reclaimed in the usual manner.
