Hi,

I want to create a larger letter "J" as an image.

I want the background to be a picture but the rest of the picture doesnt show unless it is involved in the J.

Any ideas?

I'm not sure this is business but a photoshop forum might be better.

Anyway from what I can gather you want a letter J inside the J is the backround image anything outside it is blank?

If so then you can create a mask by using the select tool on the j invert the selection, select the background and apply the mask.

TaDa!

It'd involve using masks, or at least layers. Make the giant J on one layer, put the background photo on the layer below it. Then select the J shape, invert the selection and delete that part from the background layer. Turn off the visibility on the J layer and you should have your J with the photo you want inside it.

I think that's what you meant anyway. Would suggest going to a graphics forum, someone there might do it for you (I would of but I'm not near the computer!).

Well my needs may be different to the OP's Requirements.

But..

What i want is to have a background say "A Ship", then i can create a "Square" over it.

The background will dispear apart from the part where the square is. Efficitivly i will have a square with a background of part of a ship.

Purely examples by the way lol.

Thanks.

Any tutorials would be greatly welcome
