Ideas on marketing?

B

Business Friend UK

Yeh but obvioisly i am going to say that and am bias towards how much i love online marketing :)
Depending on the industry i love competition running and offering a reward to winners. Social media is pretty effective for that and it engages well.

Im also a huge fan of database construction and really targeted direct marketing.

Whats your business? That might help the idea flows

Hi Callum,

Loads of people share their marketing ideas in blogs.

jimsmarketingblog.com is just one example. A good example.

People do it because it establishes them as experts and thought leaders. There are SEO benefits too. Valuable and regular content is loved by Google's algorithms.

Seth Godin shrewdly said simply: 'ideas that spread win'. Put your best ideas out there. Present them in social media formats like blog posts, infographics and videos. And win hearts, minds and business on the back of it.

I'm from an agency background where we lived with a cloak and dagger mentality about clients and what we were doing for them. To a point, the reverse is now true.

I have been in business for long time. What i analyze that the reason of success is depends upon how quick you understand the mind of your customer and implement marketing strategies accordingly. Always consider your customers need while devising any strategy related to marketing specially. Because marketing personnel needs to interact directly with the customers

Best online marketing activity?

Contact 20 companies who are in complementary, and not competing, niche sectors similar to your own. Offer to market their services to your customers in exchange for them marketing your services to theirs.

You can find that channel partner relationships (affinity, affiliate, joint venture, co-marketing, or whatever name you want to give it) can, for the amount of effort required, generate more exposure to new prospects than any other method [based on a budget of 0, which only requires your time and effort].

I've seen some companies generate 20% of their revenue using this method, ranging from mom and pops up to global firms doing several million quid in revenue a year.

Social engagement. Build business network and engage with people.
This is really important, personal recommendations and referrals from other people are really strong, as these have come via people often a potential client will know and trust.

The person referring or recommending your business or product can then point a potential customer or client to your website for more information or to contact you.

Hi UKBF Members,

I am interested in seeing if business people would be happy to share their best marketing online and why?

Kindest Regards,

Hey Cal,

a website is definitely a good start! It's your 'face' online. Your presence, so to speak.

It also acts as 'security' of sorts - if your customers see you have a solid presence, they can rely on you to be reputable.

And my personal favourite of a website? You can sell your a** off on there. It's YOUR website, so promote yourself!

grab some organic traffic sources (usually free but time-consuming unless you outsource) like blogging, article writing on places like Ezine etc.

Also, get some landing pages up: hire a copywriter or write it yourself if you're good enough and start building a list ASAP.

Trust me: having a list of warm prospects will see your sales shoot up (DUH! :D)

Best of luck!

Hi,

It really depends on what your objectives are, how you want your brand to be perceived and of course budget!

Generally the best way to generate business online is to get other people to recommend your products. The key to this is to engage with people called 'customer influencers' (sorry about the buzzwords). These people are strongly involved in your market who have big networks of people who respect what they have to blog, tweet, status update, check into, like, etc, about.

Customer influencers are motivated by accumulating 'social capital' (sorry!) because this enables them to increase their networks. They need a supply of interesting content to shout about to their followers. A good way to engage with customer influencers is by giving them something interesting to shout about that's related or directly involved with your product. They then promote your message and their followers do the same.

A good example of this which I have been involved with began with the objective of trying to get free PR which would generate interest, awareness and perhaps some sales. Using a twitter account we engaged with the editor of a trade publication, gave them an interesting story about the organisation we wanted to promote and not only did we get re-tweeted to thousands we got a small article written in the trade publication that generated lots of business.

Although pay per click might generate some interest, being recommended is generally much more effective for your business.

The old rules of paid advertising are giving way to new online marketing techniques.

JA.

don't clutter your website. keep it clean. piperlime is awesome. I like their clean look. and on the other hand marksandspencers..although very popular, i find it very cluttered and tiring to look at. SO concentrate on your website.

blog writing is most certainly helpful. i porbably missed out on it, but what are your products again. your marketing will really depend on the kind of products you sell. like for a luxury item have a photoblog and things like that.

hope that helps
