Idea for courier

Last night I couldn't sleep and came up with a idea for a courier firm in reality I will never put this into practice but just wanted to hear peoples feedback.

My idea was just delivering from 2 city's say London to Manchester within a certain radius of the city and charging £2.50 up to and no dimension limits. Business account holders could get free pick up as long as they were in the radius limits.

Is this already being done? If it's a stupid idea forgive me as I've just woke up.

That is quite limited, but maybe you could market it at sending much larger items / or helping out existing networks?

How can that compete with DHL FedEx or even Royal Mail?
