ICO Registration

OK, so having jumped through as many hoops as possible for GDPR compliancy, what's the general consensus on ICO registration? I must admit I only started reading up on it a couple of weeks ago but my brain is now getting frazzled !

If you dabble anywhere near data. (and careful with security measures) i.e. names and addresses online etc.. and you are an SME with less than £25.9 million then £35 will be a good investment... to save any possibility of being outside the law

I guess I'm not alone with my late start:
Google search: there were 5.7 million SMEs in the UK in 2017
ICO Org website: There are over 500,000 data controllers registered with the ICO
