Website first impressions was it wasn't really professionally designed. I didn't understand what the top left logo had to do with luggage boxes.

Looks like an intriguing product but for a while I thought you sold motorhomes.

The images are not good enough to sell me the product - I want to be able to access large detailed images of this product because I have never seen one before.

Get your prices online - the bottom line is - how much is it?

You need some user recommendations, some 'as seen on' someone celeb's caravan or used by someone respected or recommended by the MD of the motorhome manufacturer.

the way you have done your FAQs is really annoying, far too tricksy. Keep that text still. It's hard enough to read on the web without the words jumping about.

Your contact details are not full - there's no address.

You invite agents to sell the top box. No having proper contact details gives the impression you are an agent not the manufacturer or official stockist.

There does not seem to be a way to order a box. With no prices and no call to 'order one today' and no delivery details it no surprise you are making no sales on this site.

I haven't touched on many other usability problems with this site, but I'm sure you'll be able to make sales once you have sorted out the fundamentals.

Thank you for all your helpso far.
I will change the image on the left hand corner and put the prices on the website as well.
Then change the text on the FAQ and put large clickable photo's of the Auto-box on the site.
Our new office in London will be ready for use in the next week.
Is there something else I can do?

First impressions are not too bad, but I agree with above that i thought you sold motorhomes. You need to make sure that within 3 seconds of someone visiting the site, they know exactly what you are offering.

You say you need to increase sales, does that mean you have lots of visitors to the site but not much response, or is it the visitors you need? As a possible solution will really depend on which it is.

Looking at it from a gaining visitor point of view I can see you have used frames to build the site (it's not particuarly user friendly and is not welcomed by search engines). Secondly there is much in terms of optimisation you could do, firstly change the title - it should be the product you are promoting in the title. You can add the company name, but add this after the product.

You should add ALT tags to your images, to enhance your keywords and also as alternative text for people not being able to see the images. Add a text based sitemap so search engines can easily pick up all pages.

You also need to increase the number of relevent themed sites linking to you. At present you have 0 linkbacks on Google, Yahoo and Altavista. I would start with a linkback campaign to start increasing your pagerank and climb the search engines.

You also need to start examining what terms people are searching on to find sites selling products such as yours. Once you have found a good, searched on, phrase you need to start optimise your site to reflect these images - and start reaping in those search engine rewards!

My free weekly search engine optimisation newsletter, at http://www.c2webdesign.co.uk, will probably help you.

Best of luck,

I think we need to establish what your role is in selling these boxes.

Are you the developer or are you an agent?

Who are you trying to sell to - potential agents/outlets or private box buyers.

A quick search for autoboxes online brings up a series of sites just like yours which makes me suspicious of the whole concept.

Sillyjokes mentioned the lack of address. Isn't it a requirement of the Ecommerce (EC Directive) Regulations 2002 to include a full address?

I personally would be unlikely to deal with a company that didn't provide its address.

From what I can gather from various documents I've read, listing a physical address is only required prior to the conclusion of a contract...

Information required prior to the conclusion of the contract

7. - (1) Subject to paragraph (4), in good time prior to the conclusion of the contract the supplier shall -

(a) provide to the consumer the following information -

(i) the identity of the supplier and, where the contract requires payment in advance, the supplier's address;

Statutory Instrument 2000 No. 2334
The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000

http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/si2000/20002334.htm

So, from that, it appears you are only obliged to supply your client/customer with an address immediately prior to the sale. Sellers should be entitled to a modicum of privacy too, surely? - particularly if they are a home business. It is the 'nutternet' after all.

Any comments? :)

Right, I am going to be honest here; you may hate me for it but it's the truth and I wouldn't want you to lose business while I beat about the bush.

Your website looks amaturish. I have bought almost everything I own over the internet and I would only buy something off of a company that had taken the effort to have a good looking website made. I know this isn't necessarily indicative of the professionalism of the company but I believe it is a major contributor in the average persons decision making process whether they know it or not.

I know I am a web designer and you may think I am saying this to get your business but I am not, and you will just have to trust me on that one :)

Interesting.

I don't (strictly speaking) sell goods or services directly on my website - i.e. no one can actually purchase anything without having had lengthy communication with me during the design process.

Rules and regulations are always open to a degree of reasonable interpretation; and as I provide full contact details on my invoices prior to sale, I expect that the requirements are met in full...

What must you do?

You must ensure you provide end users with:

the full name of your business (I do)
your geographic address (I do)
contact details, including an e-mail address, to enable direct and rapid communication with you. (I do)

:)

I have to say it just is not blatantly obvious when you first visit the site exactly what you're selling.

It looks like the site design of a young webdesigner with a few graphics skills - I did our own site for a couple of years but since I got a proper webdesigner - with graphics skills on board it has accelerated our sales and peoples impressions have improved. Actually our quality and service haven't really changed at all.

If you want me to put you in touch with our website designer than PM me.

Thank you all for all your help and opinions.

On the end of the day all I want is to get more sales and clicks.
To get those sales I need to improve my website and marketing of the website.
That is why I ask you all to help with pointing out all the things that I can improve on.
We will update the website ASAP and then I will be back to ask you all again for your opinions.

Thanks again

Hi,
Your site looks good, just one thing might help. When you want visitors to contact you via email, your links take them to, probably, Outlook Express, which they may not use as their preferred email client. I suggest that their are plenty of potential clients who use mainly web based email, therefore, how about adding a FORMAIL form for people to contact you, they can also ask or answers questions, here are links to 2 examples that I have created.

I am happy to send you the code if it will help.

best wishes,
