I had a Samsung ML-1910, liked it because it was affordable and, although the toner was a bit pricey, you got a lot of pages out of it. Now it's died, can anyone who's a bit better at this kind of stuff then me suggest a decent, affordable printer please? I do quite a lot of printing but it's only ever black and white text...

Not sure how much you print but I have just started using this all in one

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Officejet-8...9VDG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1336026195&sr=8-1

very cheap to run - they say cheaper than laser but that will all depend of course

A doddle to use the more "advanced" features due to the touch screen

Big paper tray

Fast - an eye opener to me compared with my last inkjet
Much faster than our laser for single pages etc due to no warm up time

For the speed improvement alone I think I will get the cost back in time saved this year

We use a Brother HL-5240L Mono Laser Printer which has been a great workhorse for the last 2 and a bit years.

Plenty of aftermarket toners and drum units available which helps keep the running costs low - toners are availabel in standard (3000 pages) to high yield (7000 pages) versions.

Not sure if this model is still readily available but something similar from Brother would be good

Hi

We use Lexmark T632 printers, bit old now but 40ppm and toners is dead cheap, can get a used prnter on ebay for £60 , and compatible cartridge for £40, for 21k or 32k pages.

New small lasers are dead cheap, but toners work out v expensive per page.

I just bought this thing, and although it says it does "SMB (scan to a shared folder)" I couldn't get that part working, so now just scan to FTP.

Printing is insanely quick, photocopying documents actually make the copied document look BETTER than the original, and scanning direct to a folder (through FTP) means I can just shred all the inbound paperwork I get and have a paper free office at last.

There are large number of printers which works good and are affordable for personal use. You can surf net for this. But i want to suggest you a url on which you can choose and compare the price.

www[dot]futurebazaar[dot]com

I have already suggested this for one of my friend and he got the printer of his choice. Most frankly i want to say that if u search net for half an hour. I am sure that you will find something better then i suggest.

Actually i want to share a very specific url with you but according to the rules of this forum that is not valid. So we can not go beyond the rules this site.
