Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who helped me with tips and advice. I have worked my fingers to the bone, but I finally launched the project today. If you type 'Sunglasses' on Kickstarter you should see me (Brave & The Bold).

The nerves are starting already and its only day 1! Now I have to promote like crazy. Has anyone had any success with any online magazines (for getting features)?

Hi Emma

I checked your Kickstarter page out and it looks great. Good luck with the venture!

Regarding the PR, I used to have an ecommerce site (mobile phone accessories/gadgets) and for a while did my own PR. I managed to get some really good coverage in the national newspapers, various magazines and the Gadget Show (offline copies and also some online coverage). So it's very possible, especially if you have an interesting product and/or interesting angle on it (how it came about etc).

I think a lot of people feel nervous when trying to do their own PR - but newspapers/magazines/blogs need your content too, so it's a two way street (should make you feel more confident about picking up the phone to a busy journalist!)

I'm sure you will have lists of online media you want to target. I used to use The Writers Handbook to draw up a list of magazines and regional newspapers too.

Congrats @emmalr! Page and video looking good! Depending on the manufacturing costs of the product and your strategy you could think about something like 'thebloggerprogramme.co.uk' - although you could choose to compile a list of fashion and lifestyle blogs / websites to target yourself rather than go though an existing site (as @imagesoft is doing).

I also had a sneak peak and saw you've made a great start on your Pitch application - let me know if you need any help on this. :)
