Just received a rather poor spam from a local company saying that they are experts in web design and develop sites that are "super SEO friendly". One of their current customers is http://www.asd-consultants.co.uk/. They actually BOAST about this site! About how SEO friendly it is. The site is 100% flash, no text anywhere and not even alt text. No meta tags, no keywords, no nothing.

We had a woman ring once trying to sell me facebook pages, I said no, but she wanted to continue, she wanted to show me an explain of a site they had increased the turnover for with a facebook page, after a quick look the returns policy was that latin filler text, the company contact information was missing, and the site itself was truely awful, when I slated it, she insisted they had turned this company arround with there facebook designs, I had to laugh, she had no idea what SEO was, or anything about web sites, only the rubbish she had been brain washed with in the sales patter.

But they went to all the effort of making SEO optimised title tags!

    Code:
    <title>asd-consultants</title>

Did you spot the little image that flashes up ONCE at the bottom to say, "zoom in to enlarge"?
    This one? ;)

OK chaps what am I missing here?

To my untrained eye the website looks perfectly ok to me and does everything I'd want from a website.

How could it be noticeably improved?
Because the site is in flash, Google cannot "see" the site content. this is what the site looks like to Google:

    Code:
    HTTP/1.1 200 OK
    Date: Thu, 02 Feb 2012 12:15:20 GMT
    Server: Apache/2.2.21 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.21 OpenSSL/0.9.8e-fips-rhel5 DAV/2 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 mod_perl/2.0.5 Perl/v5.8.8

Look though the code, you won't see any of the content as it's all the the flash animation that Google cannot read.

The OP stated that a search engine optimisation company was using that as a "demo" of how good they were :)

Well, if they were optimising on one key word (asd-consultants) then you could safely say that the keyword density is 100%. Not sure how this would help the company being found by someone looking for any service they offer but who did not know their name.

The annoying/frustrating thing is that some people will look at the site and like it and use these spammers to create their site. The spammers are a print company. Good at graphic design, and leaflets. They are designing leaflets and calling them web sites.

Method Main is quite right. It is an OK design (not my choice, I don't like it) it certainly clearly shows what they do and who they are. It is just an awful site for SEO.
