HSBC alternative

Hi All,

Our business and personal card have been been subject to fraud. So as we will have to start again with just about every service used for the card we have decided to look into changing bank. We are a small business who gets payments via bank transfers, often from the USA.

What might be a good alternative bank? Especially one that has cheaper charges and also that has better security. We are forever having to call them about different issues and they lock the account etc. One that has modern security like sending photos from your phone to check its you would be better etc.

Bankline at NatWest is so secure I keep getting locked out.

My wife rates Starling, too: if account compromised you have to send them a video message, which they compare with the original one which you used to open the account.

Can’t comment on USA aspect

I have been very happy with my Starling Business Account, it shows you what payments are due to come in/out your account in advance which is handy.

good for FX and multi currency accounts (seconds to set up) and we got them to beat our current merchant payments service when they started putting interchange fees on. Circa 2.6% on company credit cards

I appreciate it doesnt really help but as an accountant looking after small businesses I hear good and bad about all banks.
