And the judge in his recent case discribed him as honest.:D

A rare individual gets there through corruption or luck.

The rest have to be gifted at running a business to grow it to the Billion Dollar stage. I know the types of tv programs going around convincing people that all is needed is a entrepreneur attitidue but it takes a lot, lot more than that.

How to structure a business
How communication flows up and down the structure
How to put in place controls in that structure to coordinate and direct the business
How to market properly
Managing costs, revenues and applying economics properly
Business ethics, corporate social responsibility and stakeholder theory
Human resources and legal knowledge
Strategy skills for strategic and tactical management

There are a range of skill areas that increase a businesses chances of making it. Knowledge is power and the more you know the better you can perform. I would even say psychology, philosophy and politics have valid input for many businesses too.

In general in business money is power not knowledge ,hence why many companies are started by people that will bend the rules to get that first million or so unless of course they have family money behind them to start with.

Knowing how to run a business correctly means the owners have a higher chance of making it big time.

Some sociopathic individuals think they get somewhere in life by lying, cheating and shafting everyone which includes in business. Sadly its very rare that works.

The reason is when you shaft your stakeholders they dont take it lying down and react badly. Court cases, bad publicity, trading standards, police investigations, Government watchdogs and customers that hate you destroy the organisations reputation. Once thats gone the business has had it.

Well... I agree and disagree. Dishonesty seems to be a mean of choice to be successful in business (at least in the short run), very unfortunately. It can be clearly seen in big corporations killing their quality due to big time budget cuts. Of course at the expense of customers...

Er would you like to name a few big business's where those tactics have not been used.;)

My estimation is that less than 1% of large corporations have been investigated for corruption and in most of those cases it isnt the business but a few of its employees doing it.

In the UK regardless of what stuff the media says it is extremely difficult for corporations to engage in and get away with corruption. This is because they are subject to yearly audits and accounting legislation.

Not even banks can successfully pull the wool over the auditors eyes as the last few months have shown. If people so much as sneeze then the auditors know about it.

There is a culture in our society promoting big business as being corrupt when it isnt. Its being driven by those on the left who come from deprived households. The rich arent to blame for their situation their own mentality is. They are driving an us and them mentality turning people against large corporations. It is nothing more than negativity.
