How to start a vending machine business and the potential?

Hi

Any advice or opinions would be greatfully received. I have business experience as I owned an online business around 8 years ago which was very successful (selling premature baby clothes) but due to a relationship breakdown, I decided to sell so I could put a deposit down on a mortgage.

Since then I have been a stay at home mum, desperate to get back in to business as that was my intentions even before I graduated (I graduated in marketing). But being a mum to three children knocked that out of the way for a while.

I have thought about the idea of a vending machine business. I have been to many shops and public places in my area that do not have vending machines and it had me wonder about the potential for them. The places I have been that do have them, well they are horrible, dirty and uninviting and the snacks and food are unappealing. I have also thought about the possibility of having smaller ones (like the 20p jelly bean machines) in staff rooms etc and offering the owner 20% gross as a "tea fund" or something similar.

Initially I would like to start small and low cost (the 20p and 50p jelly bean, bouncy ball ones) and if I can get finance, progress to the bigger ones, drinks, chocolate bars etc. It also had me wondering if there was any potential for nappy/wipes/baby accesories vending machines in maternity hospitals (as my maternity hospital is separate from the main hospital and has no shops)

Obviously I do not expect to become rich from this but it gets me making a bit extra money and has potential for growth and will get me started in business which is what I want.

Any ideas or advice?
