Hi there I am currently interesting in starting a training facility where I could offer free English and maths lessons to individuals that have come to England from different background or the less fortunate. I came across this website that had the same service w w w .ebcf.o r g .u k /our-centres

How do I start a business like this , do I need to ask the council or exam board etc.

Please shed some light on how to get started.

Normally colleges, adult education centres and community based organisations (such as the one you mention) bid to provide a range of vocational educational course including those which are offered free to low income and other disadvantaged communities.

So the short answer is that if you want to offer free ESOL courses you would need to approach the relevant training/education body to tender to run these in your area.

You would need to ensure you meet all the criteria laid down by the training/education body in order to be able to bid for the contract/s.

I don't want to be too brutal to new member, but if you don't know where to start, you should not even think about starting a training centre.

You will be in direct competition with universities, colleges, private sector and not-for-profit sector centres.

Tutors need to be qualified to deliver, you need access to a qualifications provider and a great deal of cash to get started.

I ran an I.T./Media training centre for a large charity for five years, £250,000 start-up costs and minimum £60,000 p.a. overheads + finding ongoing funding is a real nightmare.
