Hi,

it depends what your budget is for promoting your site. The biggest mistake people make is spending money on individual "Silo's" of activity. You want to have a complete Digital Marketing Strategy that combines everything - this is how you get results.

Talk to the guys at Sharpmonkeys.co.uk or call them on 01527 591149. They are helping us on our website and are very good. They will explain what it is you need doing so that you understand what your buying before spending the cash.

good luck

If anyboday knows how to promote a new website, please contact me, I want to discuss with you. Thanks,Nancy

Hi
I just started a new small company, I have spent some time choosing the right keywords, validating the HTML, and looking at the keywords on my page text giving it internal and external links.
All this helps to rank the website on the search engines.

If you want to promote your website then you have only one option SEO(Search Engine Optimization). Its the process of generating traffic for your website by giving higher rank on Search Engine and making good backlinks for your website. In this process your website will be optimized so that it's becomes search engine friendly. If you want to promote it then its the trick..

Try using Googler page Rank Checker (you can google it!) this allows you to put in any page url and see how Google ranks it...you'll then see what pages need the most work in terms of building content and building, links. And if you're swopping links you need to try and get links from pages with equal or higher PRs.

I also have a new website and it can be hard going promoting and marketing it, especially if you are doing it yourself.

Search Engine Optimisation is the key to making you website visible.

There is a lot of information on the internet that can help you drive 'traffic' to your website making it 'ranked' higher in internet searches.

I don't think anybody would suggest that SEO is the "only option" of generating traffic to a website. It's like saying the only way of driving customers to a high street retailer is by leafleting.

If you are interested in driving traffic to your website, it's worth studying the different methods available and see which one(s) suit your needs. Wikipedia is a good place to start.

We ourselves are a digital marketing and design agency that have been driving people to websites since 1997 and if we can help, do not hesitate to get in touch.

1) Blog Commenting

Comment on a popular blog or website related to your niche. Use a thought provoking question to draw attention and get some conversation started. Use keywords in your comment and you may drive some good traffic.

2) Article Commenting

Go to article directories and search an article related to your website or product. Pick a famous article site and leave a comment under one of the articles. Popular articles will get many views and with your link at the bottom, you can drive some visitors to your own website.

3) Social Bookmarking Sites

Use social bookmarking websites like digg or twitter. When you post new content on your website, be sure to send the links to popular social bookmarking sites.

4) Article Submission

Gather a list of article submission sites that rank high on the Google search engine. Submit your articles to these sites with your link at the bottom. High ranking article sites are prone to get listed on the search engines and you can get a lot of traffic through high page rank.

5) Mailing List

Create a mailing list from your most beloved fans. As long as people choose to receive mail, you can probably get away with a lot of consistent traffic to your website. A great way to remind your followers of new content!

6) Forums In Your Niche

Participate in a forum related to your site and add a signature link to your website. This is a surefire way of getting traffic to your website.

7) Free Advertising Forums

There are many free advertising forums that you can post on to spread the word of your website or product. Join these forums and get more traffic to your website through this free advertising method

8) Exchange Links

Exchange links with a popular website that is related to your very own. This is a great way to get traffic from other websites that are bringing in many viewers.

9) Advertisements

Use advertisements such as adsense or pay famous websites related to your niche to post ads on their sites for a set fee.

10) Submit Your Website To Search Engines

Submit your website url to famous search engines like Google and Yahoo. This will enter your website to result on search engine pages for the keywords you choose.

11) Post Content At Regular Intervels

Google loves to give people the latest updates for what they are searching for. Post at regular intervals and the web crawlers will see you post regularly. This will automatically get you better SEO and you will drive more traffic to your website.

12) Quality Content

Create quality content on your website. So much so that people will be sure to come back for more later. Ongoing followers are a great way to increase traffic to your website. The more followers you have, the more it will entice other people to become followers! Keep them coming back for more!

Hi,

I think for a new website, you should first do SEO including on-page optimization and off-page optimization.

How to do?
You should do keywords research. Collect some competitors in related field and check the source file of their sites to see their keywords. Then go to google adwords, to manage the keywords-related information including competition, search results, intitile results, which will help you make a conclusion on homepage keywords selecting. Generally speaking, you can choose 3-4 keywords for your homepage. Then write articles containing the keywords for your site and make sure to update the site regularly.
Off-page optimization:
you can build back links for your sites as many as possible. you can try blogging, bookmarking, forum posting, pr writing and article submission.

hope my answer helps

Better yet learn to leverage social media tools which add value where it matters most for you. Check out Foursquare for geo-location sharing and location "check-in" - great for promoting bricks-and-mortar businesses - and there are similar services for website check-ins also e.g. Meebo

SEO obviously remains a hugely powerful tool also, but this is perhaps more technical tool that will require you to work closely with you website engineers while the other tools I mentioned are a great way for a non-technical person to hit the ground running with online marketing

From my experience web design companies are not the best people to discuss SEO with. You need a specialist company for this. Finding a good one isn't always that easy. Look at their client list and see how they rank first.

Good luck.

I agree with this as design companies look to create a good looking website not a website which is easy for a search engine to crawl. There are many SEO resources on the web so it is definitely something that you can learn yourself and have pretty good results on your own.

I work for an SEO company and it is not rocket science, just needs a bit of research.
