How to Pay Employess

Hi All,

I've recently employeed my first employee and haven set up the HMRC Basic Payroll software. I understand how to use this and send off the FPS but how to I actually PAY my employee? Do I need to manually log into my bank and transfer the money? Does it happen automatically?

Sorry - payroll for dummies but I can't find this info anywhere!

You need to physically make the payment yourself. HMRC Basic Payroll just does the calculations and RTI returns. As I recall from using it it doesn't even produce payslips.

Yup. Log into your bank and make the payment direct to your employee's bank account.

However you want to pay them, a bank transfer is the usual way.

If you find HMRC's software hard going, many of my clients have, MoneySoft is very good. I have no connection to the company by the way just a very happy long term customer.
