How to get more customer feedback on Amazon?

I understood from the seller forum on Amazon that the average rate of getting feedback from customers is about 5 - 10%, but we only got around 3% of customers leaving any feedback on their purchase from us. This rate is however much higher on eBay, with nearly 99% of our customers having left feedback on us.

I am very curious why customers on Amazon are so reluctant to leave feedback on their shopping, compared to those on eBay. Is there any secret?

If I were you, I would just simply ask for feedback if customer was happy about product purchased from you. For any of your item you're selling you can attach small card with sentence like - "please let us know and leave your feedback if you like our products". I bet you'll double your feedback.

Also you for bigger purchases, you can add some small gift - it is another well known technique to boost feedback

I have never ever given feedback for a vendor, simply because no vendor has sent me an email with a hot link to the feedback page for that transaction.

One or two have sent a link, but don't know how to write that link, so that it does not get the hypertext link stripped off by BT / Yahoo's email system. All I get to see are the words 'Click Here!' but no underlying link.

If you do not send out emails to (you hope!) satisfied customers with a hot link to the right place, you will not get any feedback!

There are a number of companies out there who will automate the process of sending out feedback request emails. We do this for eBay and Amazon and saw a good increase in the amount of feedback received when we started using it. A couple of examples will be Feedback Five and Xsellco.
