Hi, I have a webshop for handmade jewelry. I have my webshop for 2 months now, I have an Etsy shop for almost a year and I really want to find wholesale buyers for my shop.
I just want to create my jewelry fulltime from home. :)
Are there any wholesale buyers out here ?

There are absolutely thousands of people here in the UK designing and making their own jewellery and trying to get it into shops, it's a very tough market to crack as there is a huge amount of competition, particularly if you're doing beaded jewellery.

If you are actually silver-smithing and setting your own stones you will have less competition - although silver clay is becoming increasingly popular and very competitive - but it will still be difficult.

You will need to have really good photos of your work, a good wholesale price with great potential mark-up, provide packaging, have a recognisable logo, be confident that you can supply very quickly if required, be able to produce regular new ranges of designs, ensure you can keep up with current fashion trends so that you are always on top of what customers want (and retailers therefore wil eed to stock).

If you are organised and determined enough you can definitely make a business here, just don't expect it to be easy.

Yes, I know, I dont work with beads for this reason, and because I dont like working with beads, I work with resin

In the future I'm thinking about working with silver, not silver clay because you are also right at this point. Working with clay is expensive but still easy and the results are not so beautiful as sterling silver jewelry.

Just taken a look at your website - very nice products, unusual enough to grab attenion but mainstream enough to optimise sales. You have a good balance there.
I do like resin, all the qualities of dichroic glass without the breakability! Well done to you and good luck ...... I'm sure you already know about trade fairs, retail buyers will lways attend these looking for new products, they are expensive to exhibit at but it would be worth your while if you can afford such an investment. Do you have a like-minded friend who could share the cost of exhibiting at such an event with you?

Agree with doodles on this - it was attending our first trade fair that really shifted us up a league (or two!).

They are expensive, though.

Even if you're not yet ready to exhibit at a trade fair, start going to a few get a feel for what they are like, how to set up your stand etc.

Hi Janice,Nice post.
I am just so sorry, because of the website problem, here i am not allowed to your webshop.

But from some of my friends' former business experience, for you have not that much for afir, why not go to have a look.and there are many kind people, who interest in your products, then you could walk through there and could pass out some Catalogue to the one who interest in.

But i think it is difficult to get into the fair if there is no booth for you,you could make it pass though at the portal or some places like that, more people know it,more probability for others to get you.

That will cost you to let somebody do the flies for you and some money for the cost of the flies, that will save much.

Hope that could help.

Best wishes to your Business.do it well.

Regards,
Dan
