how to do due diligence on a USA company.

I want to do due diligence on a company in the USA eg how long have they been in existence, financials etc. in the UK we can go to companies house what is the equivalent in the US please.

There's a tool called EDGAR, I'm too new to post the link but if you google 'edgar search' it will come up.
