How to discover our Google page rank?

Hi All,

I have been using a few tools to test out our website to see what the Page Rank is. I know we rank really well on .co.uk for most of our keywords and yet some tools suggest a Page 3 or higher.

I suppose my question is: How does the PageRank really work and where can I get an accurate ranking?

Pagerank or PR is not what physical page you score on for searches.

It is a system invented by Larry Page that is supposed to assess the relevance of a page on the internet as a whole and includes things such as links in-between.

You are talking about 2 different things here:
PageRank (PR) and Keyword Rank/Position

PR is supposedly the importance of your site. However, Google have openly admitted to playing about with this and in a nutshell putting whatever number they feel like.

Keyword Rank is the position of your site in the search engine results page on your selected target keywords. I personally haven't found a "free" software that is accurate. However, in saying that, I have used and downloaded the free trail of Rank Tracker which I find ok. On the free version you can not save a project or have a history but you can overcome this if you didn't want to buy by manually transferring the data onto a spreadsheet
