Been out having fun in the snow with my children and I took some video of them.

I'd like to edit the videos (cut out mins of blank snow shots!) and put it on youtube so grandparents & godparents spread around the globe can see my 'little darlings'!!

The video is in .avi format, I want to edit using windows movie maker so I need to change the .avi movies into .wmv.

How do I do this?

Thanks in advance

Jeff

I think the OP wants to edit the video rather than just playback. I presume Windows Movie Maker won't let you import the video for editing.

This link might help: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308464

You could try downloading Codecs (be careful of codec packs..some contain spyware and malware. I have good experience using Shark007 Codec packs though..only one I would recommend really)

If you tell me about how you filmed the avi (what camcorder etc) I might be able to recommend some apps that will convert it to a Windows Movie Maker friendly format.

Think the OP probably sorted this out 9 months ago :D

This thread from Dec 2010 was resurrected by a spammer this morning :)

Yep - quite right! Can't remember exactly how I solved it, but here's the result if you want to see it: http://youtu.be/-OMbhKXIjxU (you probably won't want to see it - its just a short vid. of my two sledging in the snow.)

Thanks again, though, to all who provided some consructive advice.
