How to convert a published article into sales?

We recently had an article published on an over-55s website and whilst we have had the most likes for any article on their pages and have had 230+ likes on their facebook post directing people to the article, we have yet to see anyone coming over to our own website to place sales!

They have been visiting the website and I have implemented a video on the landing page as well as responding to facebook queries posted on the originating over-55s page, and ensuring that our fb post promoting the article is at the top of our own fb page.

I have now also set up a free giveaway for orders placed in the next week to try to encourage business, which I have posted on their fb page, against our article on their website, and on our own website / facebook pages. Is there anything else I can do to encourage conversions please?

What is it your selling on your site?? The article may be good but it won't necessarily convert hits into sales. rather than worrying about trying to get sales like this via an article i would attempt to try and get sales via a more conventional means, ie, advertising and not via social media
