I have recently started dealing with NHS and sending them quotes about PPE. As soon as you send them an item , they send it for technical triage and then goes to buying team . I have reputed suppliers an dealing directly with manufacturers plus in this business since last few years and active in UAE region. Never dealt with NHS directly. I send them 4 items and 2 got rejected and 2 accepted . The final procurement is done my MOD ( ministry of defence ) as NHS is short staffed. After going thru this lengthy process ( 5 weeks ) MOD is now saying that they have halted our progress further stating the reason below and said they would tell us the reason.

"Due Diligence isn't just about a specific product necessarily, checks are undertaken continually to support a government procurement and I was alerted about concerns regarding companies in your supply chain and advised to hold on further progress "

I had send them products of reputed companies from china and malyasia. What do you guys think could be wrong . Are they talking about my company or they talking about products or the manufacturers. How does one enter the NHS supply chain so we can regularly supply them?

NHS are currently trying to cut out as many 'middle men' from their procurement process as possible, with the aim of dealing with factories directly. Although the demand is still high from the UK side, I believe there is now a bit of breathing space for them to spend a bit more time in procuring these types of supplies direct from source, as opposed to a few weeks back where they were buying from everyone who could get it instantly.

There could also be something they know about your supply chain that you don't?

It's either one of the two or a mixture of both.

Dealing with public bodies at the best of time is usually full of red tape and hoops.
