How secure are your business premises?

Hi,

I am really just looking for a bit of feedback on something that we have been experiencing here in Northen Ireland.

We are a manufacturing company (mainly doing fencing, gates, bespoke work) and recently we have been getting a lot of work from small businesses who are experiencing a lot of breakins and at the beginning of the year bank machine thefts. I was wondering is this a concern across the whole of the UK or just an NI thing after the spate of ATM thefts.

Most seem to be shops and businesses in smaller premises who have wanted various products made from bollards and window grills to wall fixed gates (that close and lock in front of their existing doors).

The reason I ask is; if it is something that is a problem for businesses I think it is something we should be pushing all across the UK, all the work we tend to do is bespoke, even what we would consider as standard products some times need to be tailored and we thankfully have a very intelligent individual who owns the company and can basically come up with solutions to problems that the rest of us wouldn't think of in a million years.

I would really appreciate any feedback that you can give me. Are there any particular areas of your own premises that are a problem, is there issues in your area, like our ATM robberies, that cause local businesses a major headache?

Is this still a problem you get occurring in NI? We have recently moved into a block of serviced offices (Somerset, England) and one of the shops had a break in and its making me start to think about the security of the office itself. Its quite a big building though and they have assured me its not a regular occurrence so it should be okay, just don't want to go through the hassle if anything does get stolen!
