Hi Guys,

Just wondering as a purely online retailer, how often, if at all, you need to process payments over the phone using a virtual terminal etc.

Im really trying to establish of MOTO processing is necessary for me.

If it matters im planning on opening an online clothes store.

I have stopped doing them on the virtual terminal because it makes PDI Compliance much more complicated.

Now I only process them occasionally on the real terminal as a MOTO as that doesn't seem to need PDI Compliance but I shred the card details immediately.

If customers want to place an order over the phone I tell them I can't. TBH I am really glad to have the PDI thing as an excuse not to as it is so time consuming processing orders manually.

Okay, great guys, thanks! The joke is i'd be processing them using the net anyway so not really any safer for them!

So do you guys ever have yo get your hands dirty and manually push your sales through your system or does the customer always manage to complete the sale themselves?

I don't think the preference for TO is about safety, its about convenience.

Sometimes they phone because they can't get the sale to go through so I just log in and tell them what they are doing wrong (usually not using the cardholder's address in the field where they have to enter cardholder's address) and they complete the sale themselves.
