how much to charge for PC rental?

With most machines they would be obsolete within 3 years, so you need to recover the purchase price plus profit over the life of the machine....say £350 for a reasonable quality machine, £350 to recover purchase price and £350 for profit....£1050 over 3 years = £29 per month (roughly).

You could be generous and just go for cost + profit - £700 over 3 years + £20 per month.

Personally I would go with first figure as you need to adjust for non-hired periods and repairs/renewals.

We provide leasing for a few of our customers. Mostly thin clients so not very expensive. We don't really make a profit on the leasing as we don't have access to a lot hardware laying around. I don't see much in it if you're just a middle man. Okay profit margins (over time) if you have access or the need to buy bulk hardware and assemble it yourself. Just a quantities game if I'm honest. Something we only look into if our customers really need it. Have a look here leasemecomputers.co.uk

It very much depends on what the machine is for - there's a huge difference between the cost and lifetime of a gaming rig to a mostly-browsing home PC ...

I think 3 years is highly optimistic - 24 months at the outside.

say £350 for a reasonable quality machine,
You need to add in the cost of screen, keyboard, mouse and so on, if you get much change from 750 I'd be suprised.

The better question to ask, if why they'd 'rent' one from you rather than get one direct from a manufacturer/box-shifter who may well offer 0% credit or leasing options.
