How much is your mobile number worth to you?

How much is your mobile number worth to you? Would you pay £300 to keep a 12 year old number? Is changing mobile numbers not as big an issue as it seems? I am not in sales so would not be losing business by changing numbers. It's simply a question of hassle vs £300. I have never had to change my mobile number so I don't know how painful it really is.

I've had the same number since my first mobile back in 1993 !! It's on my business cards, lots of other stationery, the website, my clients address lists, and engraved on my brain so that I can recite it when needed.

So it would probably cost me more than £300 in inconvenience and new printing if it was changed.

BUT why should I have to pay £300 to keep it? I've changed providers and phones a few times over the years, and been able to port my number with me each time without additional costs ?

The number is in contract on a shared business package. I would need to buy out the remainder of the contract to keep it. My business cards and stationary are changing anyway. I am leaning towards keeping it, too many people who matter have this number.

Well in that case only you can answer your specific case. I have just moved my number from Orange after 14 years, losing it would absolutely not be a consideration. it is also a special number as in sort of 07971 122 122 (not the number I have made that up) :D

Found another route. I can take out a Business mobile contract in my name and O2 will transfer the number across. The won't transfer to a consumer contract. Can anyone on here help find a decent Business package and manage the migration or should I deal direct with O2?
