How much is a website worth?

Hi there,

We buy sites all the time and if I were to evaluate your site other than knowing you're running some sort of UK business directory we'd look at the following factors.

1.) Age of your site
2.) Search Engine Rankings
3.) Monthly/Yearly income

Number 3.) is usually a big indicator but sometimes other factors like if you have a large userbase or if your site is particularly aged e.g. 5-10 years old can increase it's value.

On the face of it , looks like you've been offered a really good price. However until I hear more about your site I can't be sure.

Up until recently the site was mainly Google ads which had an income of around £30 per month.

The site is only a few months old and mainly used as a free non-profit website promoting UK business. I must admit I was amazed that anyone would want or pay that much for the website.

In that case with that little income and the fact that it would be quite easy for you to start up a project like this again, I would sell it. £1000 is a very good offer. Just make sure the guy/company is legit.

Bit of a thread hijack i'm afraid but can I ask how much consideration is given to the difficulty in running the website, supplier problems etc.,?

I run a niche market website which is several years old and has 3 revenue streams. Membership fee, retail sales and advertising. The latter which is currently untapped. I guess the whole generates in excess of £40k with potential for a lot more but as it needs a lot of commitment from myself to keep it going have struggled to put a value on it without me!

On the button .time taken to earn the revenue would be a major factor to me.

I have single pages that I have not been touched in years that earn 6k a year .

So whats the value of that.?

Lord Uncanly : Some good points there :) From a buyers perspective however the more that needs to be done to keep a site going, the cheaper it will be in price. Sites that require very little maintainence will always fetch a higher value than one that requires active maintainence. However, yes the initial time you put into a site to get it where it is needs to be considered.

Sirearl : Those are jackpot pages! Nice
